What skills can you learn at university?

Dec 18, 2015

Is studying abroad for a few weeks worth it?Students learn to learn independently and think critically, but don't develop employability skills as well, according to a survey.

The survey asked around 20,000 students about the skills they developed at univeristy, whether from their course or other activities. It found that most were confident in 'hard skills' that they used for their course, but didn't feel they had developed their personal values, creativity and other 'soft skills' as much.

However, the results changed when students took part in activities other than their course. Extra-curricular activities and volunteering both boosted employability skills, while students who did paid work said they had developed their personal values more.
